- It is oral history which indicates that Mary was a Linville. While this Hagins family moved to Perry and Floyd Counties in KY near where her apparent brother John Linville was living, there is also a MO indenture dated June 12, 1839 concerning a loan Richard Linville had guaranteed for his two sons Granville and Harrison Linville. They had barrowed money from Mary Hagins. At the time they were all residents of Clay County, MO, having filed land grants there. There was only David Hagins family near them at the time - possibly the David who is listed below. Since William died in 1833, perhaps Mary moved with her children to MO. If so she may not have been a daughter of Moses. The indenture might indicate she was a sister to Richard Linville of MO and therefore a descendant of Thomas "Old Tom".

There is speculation that Mary's maiden name was Worley which would have possibly been the source of the use of the Worley name into the Linville family. Mary (?) was born in 1761. She married David Linville, son of Thomas Linvill and Hannah (?), before 1774; This may be widow Mary's first marriage or this may be the first Mary that David married. He clearly had a wife Mary both at the time of the 1774 land deed and when he died in 1787. But the Mary Linvill who married Carter Barnett in 1799 may not be the same person as David's wife Mary. Mary (----) Linville Barnett was born in 1863, according to her Rev. War Pension Claim under the service of Carter Barnet (note that she didn't apply as widow of David Linville). This would make her really young to have been married by 1774.
In addition, the heirs of David Linville's estate do not mention her. All the land deeds found to date involve only Worley, Richard and Charity, all referring to each other as heirs of David.
In addition, David was clearly old enough to buy and sell land before 1763. This suggests he may have been an older bachelor until a first marriage before 1772-4 and then second married a different Mary by 1779 (she would have been just 16 then). Regardless, he appears to have married late and had quite young children when he died in 1787. As of before 1774,her married name was Mary Linville. As of between 1799 and 1805,her married name was Mary Barnett. Mary (?) married Carter Barnett between 1799 and 1805 at Rowan County, NC; Mary's second marriage. Mary (?) died in 1853 at NC.

Much additional information an details about the descendants of Worley Linville was provided by Milton Welch from information researched for the Tippah County Mississippi Connecting Family's project. Copy obtained in 2007 by family members attending the Linville Family Reunion in Belews Creek, NC. Worley Linville was born in 1785 at NC, M. Worley Linville of Blount County, TN sold 193 acres on the East Forks of Belews Creek to Robert Sharp Hamilton of Stokes County for $83. The date would suggest that Worley was of legal age to sell land. Although Tennessee law may have been different, in North Carolina, a man could own land before age 21, but not sell it. This may also explain why Worley "resold" it again to the same person 29 Dec 1803, this time as power of attorney for his brother Richard and sister Charity. He moved at Blount County, TN, in 1803 From Stokes Co., NC land records, it was fairly clear that Worley had relocated by late 1803 because his land dealings are noted as being handled via an attorney. Previous to that point he had personally signed (made his mark) all of his land transactions. The 1803 deed recorded in Blount County, TN indicates that Richard and Charity Linville asked their "well beloved brother Worley" to stand in their place and sell their share of their father David's land in Belews Creek, Stokes County and Hogan Creek, Rockingham County in NC. Worley subsequently appoints "trusty friend, Robert Linville" to sell 300 acres. (Book 4 p. 247 and 368.) He acquired Worley Linville on on 20 August 1803; Worley received the power of attorney from his brother Richard and sister Charity, for their interest in two tracks of land in NC -- one in Belews Creek, Stokes County and one on Hogan's Creek in Rockingham County -- all the lands of their father, David Linville. In this deed, Worley indicates that he, Richard and Charity are the heirs of David and with their power of attorney sold (again) the 193 acres on East Fork of Belews Creek. He appears on the 1804 tax list for Blount County, TN, Blount County, TN court records indicate that no taxes had been paid on 80 acres belonging to Worley, entered (or read)ad "Marley." He acquired Worley Linville on on 3 January 1804; Worley, for himself, brother Richard and sister Charity as joint heirs for him he acts, gives "friend" Robert Linville of Stokes, County power of attorney to sell 300 acres on Hogan's Creek in Rockingham County "for the best price." In a deed in which Richard Linville sold land on middle fork of Belews Creek on Dan River to his son David, Richard indicated that he was selling 1/2 of David (d. 1787)'s original grant that David and his wife Mary had sold Richard 18 Mar 1774. According to the deed, the land is where Richard has lived for "many years." The land that Worley, Richard and Charity Linville sold of their father David (d. 1787)'s is the second half of that original grant. For additional information see deeds in Surry County, listed under David (d. 1787)'s information. Deposition to be taken from Worley Linville in Madison County, MS. He married Rachel Pugh on 23 March 1829 at Hardeman County, TN; Second marriage for Worley. Per census, Worley was in Hardeman, TN with his brother Thomas. Worley Linville acquired Worley Linville on in 1834; Worley purchased 3 sections of land directly from the Chickasaw Indians on the old Ripley - LaGrange Road in the Antioch community. They obtained their drinking water from the thn famous Antioch Spring about one mile from the farm. He appeared on the census of 1840 at Tippah County, MS; Per census, Worley was in Tippah Co., MS with his brother Thomas. He appeared on the Mississippi Territorial census of 1845 at Tippah County, MS, with four males and four females in the household. He and Rachel Pugh appeared on the census of 10 September 1850 at Third Division, Tippah County, MS. Worley Linville died in 1855 at Tippah County, MS; Worley and Rachel last appear on the 1850 census. Their sons are on the 1860 census for Tippah, but neither Worley nor Rachel appear to be. He was buried at Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Antioch Community, Tippah County, MS; Unmarked grave site.
