William Linville died before 1866; Family oral history is that JFB's father, William, was shot to death in LA for cheating in a card game. Might have been involved in civil war. Clarisa was remarried by 1866.

William's wife, Clarisa, remarries in 1866 and there is no subsequent records for William. His wife and sons subsequently show up in the census.
