     Speculation: Through DNA testing, we know that Elisha Linville was not a Linville through his father's line. The DNA is an extremely close match to men who descend from the Parrish (various spellings) from Frederick County, VA. Is seems possible that he obtained the Linville surname by virtue of a birth to an unknown daughter of John ( 11 ) and Maria Christina (Stephens) Linville as they lived quite close to the Parrishes in Virginia in the 1750s-60s. Research continues although we know that the previous speculation about Elisha and Isaiah being related is not accurate. Elisha Linville was born between 1762 and 1765. He married Sarah Moore, daughter of John Moore, on 21 August 1787 at Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, Dry Brook, Berkeley County, VA. Elisha Linville and Sarah Moore appeared on the census of 1810 at Montgomery County, KY. Elisha Linville died before 13 February 1815 at Bath County, KY.

     Joseph Jr. comes of age and disappears in the 1780s, at least not appearing in a household by himself in the 1790 Census for Pennsylvania.There is a possible connection between him and a child born in 1791, supposedly in East Donegal Township of Lancaster PA whose name in adulthood was Joseph Raymer (various spellings). His direct male line descendants match the Linville Y-DNA signature precisely. The connection - both geography and time - for the possibility of the Raymer line actually being a Linville line is at this Joseph Raymer born 1791 in southeastern PA. Of all the male Linvilles in southeastern PA around 1790, one hypothesis that could make sense is that Joseph Raymer's mother was first married to Joseph Linville Jr and he died either before or just after his birth and the mother then married a Raymer, giving her son "Joseph" the Raymer surname. Research on this continues, but I have added Joseph Raymer as a son "candidate" to Joseph Linville Jr to make other researchers aware of this possibility. It should NOT be consisdered "fact" at this point - only a hypothesis. Joseph Linville was likely born circa 1760 at Cumru Township, Berks County, PA, He is first taxed in 1782 in Heidleberg township and continues there until 1789 after which nothing further is known about him. He is always listed as a singleman and doesn't appear in a household by himself in the 1790 or 1800 censuses. It is possible that he is the y-DNA connection to Joseph Raymer but the location is not as obvious as that for his brother, Isaac. It is also possible that he traveled down the Shenandoah with his other brother Benjamin, though so many of those records are lost, it may never be possible to know more about him. He appears on the between 1782 and 1789 tax list for Heidelberg Township, Berks County, PA, As an unmarried man.

     Speculation: Line still under research. DNA results suggest that the line comes down the direct male line before Isaiah from a Baker family. There is no connection to Elisha Linville, as previously thought. Isaiah Linville was also known as Isayas Linville. He was born in 1785 at Madison County, KY. He married Nancy Roberts on 11 July 1807 at Madison County, KY.      Nancy Roberts was born circa 1790. She married Isaiah Linville on 11 July 1807 at Madison County, KY. As of 11 July 1807,her married name was Nancy Linville.      Elizabeth Linville was born in June 1822 at IN. As of 27 February 1845,her married name was Elizabeth Odgen. She married Zachariah Pinkney Ogden on 27 February 1845 at Cole County, MO.      Squire Linville died; Died about age 22 as printed in "Ridge Runners." He was born between 1808 and 1810.

     Martha Linville was born in 1820 at IN. As of 5 January 1840,her married name was Martha Harrison. She married Christopher Harrison on 5 January 1840 at Cole County, MO.

     Bluford Linville was also known as Herbert Linville 1870 census designation. He was born circa 1816 at KY. He married Frances Hutton on 20 December 1842 at Cole County, MO. Bluford Linville and Frances Hutton appeared on the census of 1850 at Cole County, MO. Bluford Linville married Mary Bailey circa 1861. Bluford Linville and Mary Bailey appeared on the census of 1870 at Jefferson, Cole County, MO. Bluford Linville died before 1880; Neither Bluford (Herbert) nor Mary are listed in the 1880 census - Robert and Buford are living with Mary's sister's family - Andrew A. Tranberger/Eliza J. Not sure where Laura ended up - she would have been 18 so possibly married.

     Zachariah Pinkney Ogden was born circa 1820 at Logan County, KY. He married Elizabeth Linville, daughter of Isaiah Linville and Nancy Roberts, on 27 February 1845 at Cole County, MO.      Christopher Harrison married Martha Linville, daughter of Isaiah Linville and Nancy Roberts, on 5 January 1840 at Cole County, MO.

     Frances Hutton was also known as Frances Hutton. She was born circa 1819 at MO; Based on 1850 census age. As of circa 1837,her married name was Frances Hulon. She married (?) Hulon circa 1837. Frances Hutton married Bluford Linville, son of Isaiah Linville and Nancy Roberts, on 20 December 1842 at Cole County, MO. As of 20 December 1842,her married name was Frances Linville.      Sylvester Morgan Linville was born on 26 June 1887 at MO. He married Tinnie A. Potts on 18 February 1906. Sylvester Morgan Linville and Tinnie A.
