The school term being 3 months and compemsation was $90. This school was located on what is now Old Valley School Road between the Walkertown and Kernersville communities. The old school structure finally collapsed around 1995. at Valley School, Forsyth County, NC. He was Farmed. He married Mary Louise Vance, daughter of (?) He was Kernersville Furniture Factory - organized this business (located between Dobson and Nelson Street near the RR crossing and the lumber company. M. W. S. served as Mayor of Kernersville and on the Board of Alderman. He was a charter member of Kernersville Lions Club, organized in 1925.

He also gave much time to Kernersville Grade School which was located near his residence. He server as chiarman of the schoolboard for many years.
