Their children were all baptized in neighboring Horsted Keynes which gives the mother's name as Mary. Thomas Hart was a hempdresser between 1653 and 1690 at Maresfield, Sussex County, England. Half of the family of Thomas Hart, Jr., died within two weeks in 1676 -- wife Mary, daughter Elizabeth and son Thomas. Elizabeth and Mary were buried the same day. Richard Wickersham was baptized on 28 October 1604 at Fletching, Sussex County, England. Richard Wickersham and Elizabeth Evans took a marriage license at Fletching, but married at St. John sub Castro in Lewes (closer to the seacoast) 3 Apr 1627. There are several connections between the Wickershams in Fletching and those in the small coastal parishes of Seaford, Newhaven and Piddinghoe to the south. Two of Richard Wickersham's sisters -- Katherine and Bridget -- married families with connections in the coastal towns -- the Tuppens of Piddinghoe and the Presses of Seaford. Richard's brother-in-law, Thomas Tuppen not only stood surety for his marriage license taken in Fletching in 1627, (and actually accomplished at St. John sub Castro, Lewes near the coast), but was also the first father-in-law of Richard's later son-in-law, Thomas Linvill who first married to Frances Tuppen (daughter of Thomas) in Piddinghoe and who later married Richard's daughter, Elizabeth Wickersham, in Fletching. Richard Wickersham took as his second wife a woman named Margaret circa 1630, location not known. He was Steward of the Court at Sheffield Manor in 1636. By on 22 April 1656 he became Reeve of at Sheffield Manor, Sussex County, England. The significance of the date is that his daughter, Elizabeth, and her husband, Thomas Linvill were officially admitted to the land called North Northlands, part of the Manor, on the same day, likely through Richard's position.
He was again noted as Reeve between 15 April 1657 and 1 October 1657 at Sheffield Manor, Sussex County, England. He died before 16 November 1657 at Fletching Parish, Sussex County, England. He was buried on 16 November 1657 at Fletching, Sussex County, England. His estate was probated on 15 February 1657/58 at Prerogative Court of Canterbury, London, England. His will, written 29 July 1657, specifically identifies his daughter Elizabeth as the wife of Thomas Lindfield with bequest to be paid out in weekly sums rather than a lump sum as with the other heirs. In addition, bequests are made to Richard's daughter Cassandra, wife of John Yeomans; John Yeoman' s sister, Joan and brother Michael; brother-in-law Edward Gates [husband of Dennis Wickersham]; Richard's wife Margaret; his sister Mary Venis; his son Richard and the poor of Fletching. Executors were William Roots of Fletching and Robert Freer of Plumpton. Witnesses were Margaret Pethey, John Roots and Richard Garrett. On 29 April 1658 Richard Wickersham is cited as "late Reeve of this Manor, died seised of part of a parcel of freehold called Woodgates held of this manor, and his son Richard is next heir to the premises. At his death there happened to the Lord for heriot [a sort of death duty] 1 cow coloured brown price 3 pds." Other possible family connections become evident in Richard's will. Witness Richard Garrett probably was the father of Cassandra (Cooper) Garrett's husband, she the granddaughter of Thomas Linvill through his first wife, Frances (Tuppen) Linvill. The Garretts may also be related to Peter and Elizabeth (Napkin) Garrett of Newhaven, who was likely related to Thomas's probable mother, Jane (Napkin) Linvill.

This is the land which had been Michael Izards', where Thomas and Mary (Hart) Linvill were married. Mr. Thomas Baldwyne voted in the vestry on this date. George Ross was the minister.
