     Peter Linville was born on 25 April 1750. He was Enlisted in colonial militia. Served on Ohio frontier. in 1775 at Frederick County, VA. He moved at PA circa 1776 After militia service, moved to western PA. He married Lucretia Laing between 1778 and 1780 at Washington County, PA. Peter Linville appeared on the census of 1800 at Washington County, PA; Peter Linvel. He appeared on the census of 1810 at Cross Creek, Washington County, PA; Peter Linwel. He died on 19 April 1834 at age 83. He was buried at Cross Creek Graveyard, Washington County, PA; His gravestone states he was a soldier in the Revolution - stated in some family records to read "He was a brave soldier of the Revolution."

     The following is from a newspaper clipping (dated 1 Sept 1927) found in Nancy Leah Dayton Linville's bible.
"Even before Kentucky became a state, three Linville brothers, Aaron, John and Louise (Lewis), together with a friend, Mr Insko, while still mere lads came to Kentucky to make furture homes. Also four Burton sisters came from Maryland to Kentucky with their parents to live. In the course of time, the three Linville brothers and their friend, Insko, met and married the four Burton sisters. After a number of years, one brother, Aaron, and his family started back to Pennsylvania and were never heard of again. It is supposed that they were killed by Indians."
The Insko friend was Samuel Insko. John Linville was also known as Peter John Linville. He was born in 1778 at Mt. Pleasant Township, Washington County, PA. He married Elizabeth Shelton on 18 April 1797 at Mason County, KY. John Linville married Nancy Burton, daughter of Jacob Burton and Sarah Tucker, on 25 August 1802 at Bracken County, KY. Fought in the War of 1812 along with his brothers Aaron and Jeremiah. John Linville died in August 1846 at Bracken County, KY.

     Aaron Linville was born in 1780 at Washington County, PA; 1850 and 1860 census shows his POB as VA. !850 census shows DOB as 1780 and 1860 census shows his DOB as 1784. He married Sarah Jane Burton, daughter of Jacob Burton and Sarah Tucker, on 4 August 1811 at Bracken County, KY; Also record for 4 Sept. 1811 in Mason County for a Sally Burton. He married Millicent Jane Burton, daughter of Jacob Burton and Sarah Tucker, on 5 September 1805 at Bracken County, KY. Lewis Thomas Linville died in September 1846 at Bracken County, KY.

     Lucretia Linville was born circa 1785 at PA. As of circa 1802,her married name was Lucretia Insko. She married Samuel O. Insko, son of Joseph Insko and Laura Ann Woolever, circa 1802 at Bracken County, KY. Lucretia Linville died circa 1803 at Bracken County, KY.

     Jeremiah Linville was born in 1788 at Mt. Pleasant Twp., PA. He married Elizabeth Riley in 1811. Fought in the War of 1812 along with his brothers Aaron and John. Jeremiah Linville and Elizabeth Riley appeared on the census of 1850 at Donegal, Washington County, PA. Jeremiah Linville died on 9 April 1853 at West Middleton, Washington County, PA.

     Margaret Linville also went by the name of Peggy Linville. She was born circa 1775 at VA; Based on 1850 census that listed both Margaret and Thomas. Confirmed on age ranges for 1800, 1810, 1820 and 1840 census info for husband Thomas Woodburn. Margaret did not appear on the 1830 census for Thomas Woodburn. As of 1798,her married name was Margaret Woodburn. She married Thomas W. Woodburn in 1798 at Washington County, PA. Margaret Linville and Thomas W. Woodburn appeared on the census of 1850 at Tyler County, VA; Living with Baker and Mary Rezin.

     Descendants moved to KY. Mary Linville also went by the name of Polly Linville. She was born circa 1800 at PA. As of 30 December 1817,her married name was Mary Disher. She married Peter Disher on 30 December 1817 at Mason County, KY. Mary Linville and Peter Disher appeared on the census of 1850 at Bracken County, KY. Mary Linville appeared on the census of 1880 at Mt. Olivet, Robertson County, KY; Widowed - living with daughter, Martha Harbor. She died on 11 July 1880.

She was born between 1755 and 1765; based on her age range in 1800 census (less than 45) and 1810 census (greater than 45) - probably between 1755 and 1760 based on Margaret's DOB. She married Peter Linville, son of John Linvill and Maria Anna Christina Stephens, between 1778 and 1780 at Washington County, PA. As of between 1778 and 1780, Lucretia Laing was also known as Lucretia Linville.
